Turks back from the dead again Von Joachim Herbert, 20.06.2008„What a boring game“, one would say about the match between Turkey and Croatia – but only until the 118th minute. After that, the match actually started and turned into the most interesting and thrilling one of the whole tournament. At least up to now.
First Ivan Klasnic scored for Croatia with only one minute to play and everyone thought this 1:0 would be enough for Slaven Bilics team to make it into the semi-final against Germany. But the Turks came back from the dead, as they did two times before in the games against Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Semih SentĂĽrk equalized in the second minute of the extra time, actually the 122nd minute. So it was one all and in the following shoot out the Croats proved their weak nerves. Modric and Rakitic missed the goal and Petric failed against the Turkish goalkeeper RĂĽstĂĽ.
So now it’s Germany against Turkey in the first semi-final. What do you think about this constellation? An easy game for Germany? Or an unpleasant opponent, that is hard to play?
