OK, I´m a little late. The biggest football event of the year is already five days old. Each team finished one game and what did we learn from the first matches?

Italy isn´t as strong as expected.
Have they been strong at all in the last few years or have they just been lucky all the time? Remember the penalty at the World Cup 2006 in the last sixteen against Australia?

Spain is stronger than expected.
We don´t have to worry about that, because Spain is always strong at the beginning of a tournament. At the World Cup 2006 they started with a 4:0 victory against the Ukraine, but in the last 16 got beaten by France 3:1 and had to go home.

The Netherlands are stronger than expected.
This could be a problem, because usually the Netherlands are never strong. When did they win their first and only international title? Do you remember? You do? Are you really that old? Well, it was 1988 when the Netherlands were European Champion.

And there is Germany.
Our German team! They played pretty good against Poland, but that was really necessary. The first victory in 12 years at a European Championship!
